The Mathematical Approach

We intend to make an approch to some subjects that have a specific Field of study in a new way.

The first study is directed to an old source that is important to the Western thinking. We will approach the Bible with some questions to the writings in the old and new Testment.

In a second study we will apply a mathematical approach to the Great Pyramid of Giza and reveal some amazing results that can be obtaning through the mathematical analysis of this old archaeological building.

The Mathematical Approach to the Bible

As we pointed in our interest group in Deja.com (1) there is some approaches to old reference books that can produces unexpected results.

We are just finishing a work, a small sample of it is in the Internet forum of Sci.Archaeology in Deja.com, where we try to discuss the early Christian documents and the Old Testment in a scientific way, using the mathematical approach to clarify the meaning of the words.

To configurate the problem that we will discuss here let us see the workof the scholar Zecharia Sitchin:

The Mathematical Approach- The Sitchin view

Zecharia Sitchin's views are based in his book Divine Encounters, Avon Books, 1996

"Circumcision = sign of the stars?

"When Yahweh "cut a covenant" with Abraham, the Patriarch and all the males in his household were required to be circumcised ( genesis 17: 11 -14 )"
"Failure to do so would have excluded the offender from the people of Israel."

"With or without a precedent, what was the symbolism implied by the requirement to MUL (translated "circumcise") the Hebrew males?
No one really knows. Unexplained, too, has been the origin of the term; linguists seeking parallels in Akkadian or later Semitic languages have come up empty-handed."

"We suggest that the answer to the puzzle lies in Abraham's Sumerian origin. Searching for the meaning there, the term assumes a striking significance, for MUL was the Sumerian term for "celestial body" a star or a planet!"

Concludes Sitchin : "So when Yahweh instructed Abraham to MUL himself and
the other males, he may have been telling him to put the "sign of the stars" in his flesh - an ever lasting symbol of a "celestial connection"

We, my brother and I, interpret this text in a mathematical way, as we can see further in this paper.

Let's follow the Sitchin presentation:

"Abraham - still called by his Sumerian name Abram in the Bible – moved with his father Terah ( an oracle priest to judge by the meaning of his name ) from Ur in Sumer to Harran on the upper Euphrates."

Sitchin says he received the order in 2090 BC and moved in 2048 BC finding famines in his way and reaches Egypt where was received by the Pharaoh.
There for the first time, The Lord identified himself by name saying:

I am Yahveh
Who has brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeus
to give thee this land, to inherit it.

Thereupon, to convince the doubting Abram, Yahweh "cut a covenant with Abram that day it wit: To thy seed have I given this land, from the Brooks of Egypt to the river Euphrates, the great river."
The "cutting of the covenant" between Yahveh - God Supreme, Professor of Heaven and Earth"- and the blessed Patriarch involved a magical ritual whose likes are not mentioned anywhere else in the Bible either before or afterward.

The Patriarch was instructed to take a heifer, a she-goat, a turtledove, and a pigeon and cut them apart and place the pieces opposite each other. "And when the sun went down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and a horror, dark and great, fell upon him." The prophecy - a destiny by which Yahweh declared himself bound - was then proclaimed: After a sojourn of four hundred years in bondage in a foreign
land, the descendants of Abram shall inherit the Promised Land. No sooner did the Lord pronounced this oracle than "a burning smoke and a fiery torch passed between the pieces".
"It was on that day, the Bible states, hat Yahweh cut a covenant with Abram".

That is an important point that is not considered in the studies of the Bible and leads us to the old problem of considering the Bible in different ways according the aims of the scholar that is using the text of the Bible.

We think this magical ritual have a mathematical and perhaps astronomical meaning and we ask all people interested in this kind of puzzle to contact us with their contribution.

We sugest the same approach we did in the analysis of Mark's gospel and that analysis can be found further in this text.

But let's follow with Sitchin approach.

Sittchin goes further in his presentation:

"At age eight-six Abram did obtain a son, by the hand-maiden Hagar but not by his wife Sarai ( as she was still called, by her Sumerian name). It was thirteen years later, on the eve of momentous events concerning the
affairs of gods and men, that Yahweh "appeared unto Abram" and prepared him for the new era : the change of names from the Sumerian Abram and
Sarai to the Semitic Abraham and Sarah and the circumcising of all males as a sign of the everlasting Covenant".

That is our quote of the Sitchin views on that part of the Bible.

For us,the approach should be a mathematical one.

We did the following comment:

In the case of circumcisiom, a word that came from latim "circum cis" or cut round, we can point out that the numbers involved are:

The age of Abraham, 99 years, and the age of Ismael, 13 years.

The quocient of these two ages gives 99/13 = 7.615384615

If we consider that number as a diameter, the circumference should be

7.615384615 x 3.141592654 = 23.92443636

Well, this value is,after correction, approximately equal to the value of
the Earth revolution or solar day.

We do not know yet how to consider the recommendation that they should perform this work at the eighth day after a male man is born.

Anyway it shows that it was a covenant between God and Abraham and that has to do with the Earth.

Another interesting example is the Easter.

We had written something like this in the Deja.com forum:

"That occurrence in the Gospel of Mark (the first and second miraculous fishing) demonstrate to us that it is not an isolated case.
The author is giving a message or translating a knowledge as is done in almost all passages of the Bible, mainly in the books of Moses.
In Exodus 12, where the author, after saying to consider that month the first of the months of the year for him, orders to take, in the tenth day,
a sheep sound, a male, a year old, and maintain under continuos safeguard until the fourteenth day of this month.

For us it is giving with this a duration of three days.

Following all instructions that are in the description we can see clearly that the author is talking of some mathematical symbols.

They are 1, 14, number e, 3, 1.53.

These values can be arranged in different ways, but that one

[( 14 ) x (e )/3 x ( 1.53-1 ) ] = 23.93455690

is very interesting because this value is very close to the value of the Sidereal Day, 23.934493.

If we consider the value of the Synodic revolution of the Moon (based in the Sidereal Day of 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds), definitions that we took as before from Ronaldo Rogerio de Freitas Mourão's book, we can
see that the quotient of the Synodic revolution of the Moon and the Sidereal Day obtained from the above equation gives

29.61133482 / 23.93455690 = 1.2371794152

that we can see is approximately equal to the Square Root of

1.5306122448...

That number is one of the basic numbers in our book ( in preparation ) "Shape Energy".

All five books of Moses are rich in mathematical relations dealing with astronomical constants as the Sidereal Year and the numbers Pi , Phi , e ,153, 666.

This is one of the subject of our book, in the same line of Ralston Skinner, William Stirling, Madame Blavatsky and others who tried to see beyond the common aspect of the classical reference books and discovered what the author was saying and imagined why he did that way.

For us they did as the hero of Herman Hesse in his masterpiece "The Glass Bead Game" who fashioned a new speech, a mixture of symbols and formulas, a mathematical approach where the astronomical and musical formulas were combined under a common denominator.

The Easter time has come again. Can we see beyond the appearances, its real meaning?

It's real cosmic significance for all who live on that Earth?
